:cd Im curious after it rains on my chickens roaming the yard, they fluff up and run their beak down their feathers and each other's. I'm thinking they are trying to dry themselves off,or is there another reason why they ruffle and pick through their feathers? I'm always trying to understand my girls.

Welcome to BYC! Please make yourself at home and we are here to help.

Chickens aren't waterfowl and they don't like getting wet. Thus, after getting rained on, they'll do whatever they can to dry off. They will fluff their feathers, shake and preen their feathers. They also might be running their beaks on other flock members because they want to drink the rain drops.

Thanks for your answer, ha we thought that's what was going on just wanted to hear from someone else.
