Rainbow Egg basket Appreciation

We completely lucked out with the egg colors. My daughter wanted chickens for her birthday at the end of June 2020, so we simply picked one of each breed, not thinking/knowing anything about eggs at all! 6 out of 8 hens started laying since last month, to our surprise, they each have their "color signature" and shape. All beautiful.

! We have Australorp (purplish brown, jumbo egg), Bluebell (beautiful mint blue), Olive egger (ture olive color!), Polish (lovely pinkish white), Turken (light brown), Easter egger (greyish blue). It's such a joy collecting eggs every day. We keep an egg chart keeping logs of time and weight of each egg by each of our "spice girls" (they all are named after spices except for Turken.)

My egg basket has been so breathtakingly beautiful lately!! Alot of my barnyard mix "olive eggers" have just started laying and I am getting everything from blue to mint to speckled gold! Had to share my bounty.

Pictures barely do them justice, but you get the just. Share your rainbow baskets!

Absolutely lovely! And I quite believe you that "pictures don't do them justice". I can imagine the real colors are even more stunning! Are these all from your Olive Eggers? I have only one olive egger, and her egg is true olive color.

It's really hard to say who is laying right now! I think the majority are coming from my barnyard mix olive eggers that I hatched in may and july. Some of my girls are just coming out of molt though and another batch born august 1st should be starting soon...:)

I got this one this morning. It's the same colour as my darkest green one in the carton, but it's speckled. Might it be the same girl laying all of these? She's only been laying a few weeks.
Anybody I've had who lays speckled eggs might have more or less speckles day-to-day, but always at least a few spots, and the base colors stay fairly consistent. That middle one looks pretty different to me. I'm sure it's not impossible, but if you've anyone else who might have laid the speckled one, I'd sure guess different chicken 🤔

I like that answer. It means I have 2 favorites now.
