Just for fun, (and maybe because I want a spectacular egg basket), if you could get any breeds of chickens to form a flock that lays the most variety of egg colors possible, what would your flock consist of?
Improve upon my current list!
- Black Copper Marans (Dark Brown)
- Speckled Sussex or Orpington or any regular brown egg layer
- Salmon Faverolles (pinkish brown tint)
- Swedish flower Hen (light tint)
- Ameraucana or Cream Leg Bar (blue)
- Isbar (Green)
- Olive egger (Olive)
- Maybe some Easter Eggers just for some random fun shades
- A white layer

Did I cover all the bases? :jumpy

Here’s my eggs I have
Easter eggers (blue and green eggs)
buff Orpington (pinkish eggs)
black/blue copper Marans (chocolate eggs)
rhode island red (darker brown)
black star (my black stars lay super pink eggs)
silver/brown/white leghorns (white eggs)
cuckoo Marans (dark speckled brown)
and I also have various mixed breeds that lay brown eggs.
I hope this helps lol.

I've been looking locally for some marans and welsummers for this exact reason.
Right now I have
Brown, creme, and hopefully soon some blue.
My flock is 5 old gals that are in the retirement home. RIR, 2 black sex links, 2 rocks.
The new gals. 2 ameraucanas, 3 blue laced red wyndottes, and one splash Wyandotte.
I've got 2 roos. Rocky a black ameraucana and Tillman a thinks he's all that white silkie.

These are the colours I'm currently getting. It pains me I don't know what one hen is or what my sussex hens are crossed with. I'm also still waiting on three more olive eggers to start laying, F1's and back crosses to hopefully get darker olive.

I need some Marans and maybe Welsummers but my Barnevelders already lay some cool speckled and patterned eggs
These are all from one Barnevelder.
