Can Chooks see in the dark???
Today I was busy and I did not manage to give them fresh bedding before dark. Once I gathered the hay and brought it in the chook house they were already in bed, so I gently picked them up and put them down so I could sort the hay. When I finished I stepped back to wait for them to jump back and snuggle up but no.... They walked straight under it and ran into the wall. So I picked up Miss Prissy (my black Australorpe) and put her on the bed. She walked around abit and then I put Lottie up (my Sultan x) and put her down. The suddenly Prissy just fell off the bed. (The bed is three planks of wood as high as my knee roughly.) So I picked her up again and put her back on the perch. I went and got the other 4 chooks and put them on and who walked off again?? Prissy! So I went and got a torch to let them sort themselves out and when I came back Prissy and Mayvis both walked off and were wandering about looking for the bed! They all acted like they were completely blind. I'm worried that they might might walk off one day and hurt themselves badly.
For those who don't know what a 'Chook' is it is Aussie slang for 'Chicken'
