Well I keep mine on a very strict diet it's the secret to getting & keeping them at laying weight and age. they are around 15 lbs, and I will never let them get bigger I also keep very low roost's for them as they do want to roost I don't want any leg injury's due to jumping down off a tall roost.

Sounds like you have broiler breeders... which is tough to get a hold of. If they were raised for eggs they are definitely the parent stock that produces the eggs that hatch into the CX's. The eggs however are not sold for human consumption but rather to hatcheries. The end result however is still the same, after their prime they end up as soup stock... Your breeder broilers will be just fine, especially the hens.... as the roosters tend to degenerate quickly.
