Raised quail coop but with deep litter?

That sounds like a really interesting idea. Do you have any pictures, and do you light or water it at all to encourage things to grow? How often are you putting chicks in, and how many?

I don't have many pictures because it keeps changing. I can take some tomorrow. It has some sunlight, plus a grow light. I'm still experimenting with how many quails and what kind of set-up. Right now there's not much plant life because I over-loaded it a bit just to see what the limits were for the plants. I had clover and grass planted, they ate it all, and now I want to see how long it takes to grow back.

I'm trying deep litter on my balcony, so far it works well, i used a low wooden garden with cloth (the type for blocking weeds) for a bottom so water can drain out, and filled up the edges around with bricks.
The only problem so far is that when it rains the soil can take in water from underneath, so i put a piece of plastic under their sleeping spot to keep it dry.
