Hi! A beautiful solid white rooster showed up in my yard about a month ago. He is so sweet and follows me around like a puppy dog. He started to crow 1 week after he arrived and since he wasn't going anywhere I bought him a small coup to keep him safe at night. Roosters are not allowed in my town but I cannot find him a home so I have decided that my property is large enough that hopefully no one will know and my neighbors THINK IT IS SO COOL!. I have been training him to go into his coop each night instead of flying up into a tree and so far so good. My question is... is it OK to not add any hens to keep him company? Will he be happy by himself? I did have 1 act of aggression by him toward me-I just spoke very stern to him and he stopped. I have been reading the advice written here by other followers and will start holding him each day to avoid any more aggression on his part. I thought about getting a hen but I am wondering if this will cause more aggressive behaviors. Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks!!
