Sparrow Ministries has a new flock(of 25 new pullets) and they are maturing nicely. These will be the egg layers for our 2010 summer projects. These are production red sex-link pullets. I e-mailed Hoffman Hatchery to find out exactly what cross they were. Turns out they do a mix of Rhode Island Reds and Delaware. These are suppose to be great layers so we will see how they do. Looks like I ended up with one Roo in the flock and I had two deaths through the winter. These were delivered on the first week of December 2009 so they are about 17 weeks old... i am hoping for eggs toward the end of next month. The day they were delivered to the post office we got our first snow lol. It has been difficult raising these chicks during the cold winter months but I was determined to have some new layers for this summer. I also had a few Buff Orpington and Black Orpington cross chicks that I tossed in with these since they hatch from my incubator about that same time.

Here are some pics from when they were delivered and then more from last week. Pic quality is poor since I used my phone to take the ones from last week
