Howdy, I just got my first pair of Button Quail not long ago and Im planning on hatching some, I know that they are tiny but are they just like raising baby Chicks?, Do they require a higher protien feed? Anything different than Chicks?

I found standard chick crumb was too large for baby quails but after grinding it down to a fine powder they could eat it no problems

For extra protein I add ground meal worms to the ground chick crumb
I've heard some suggested used chopped up cold boiled eggs but I must admit I haven't tried this

I just quickly bullet blend the foot real fast to make it small enough for them

They definitely need more protein than chicken chicks. They should be getting about 30% protein. A good game bird or turkey starter would be best until they reach adulthood.

Make sure to crush the feed to powder for their first couple weeks, then you can start giving them crumble mixed with the powder.
