Hi all, this is my first time with chicks and I'd like to know if it's safe to put 2 day old chicks out in the coop with a broody hen? We are in New England, so it is going to be in the 50s-60s during the day and 30s-40s overnight (above freezing) for the next 1.5 weeks according to the local forecast. I have a broody silkie that I am hoping will take to them and I'm planning to put them in her nest tonight if you all think it is a good idea. I have a setup inside to keep them in my house if need be. In the coop right now I only have two bantam hens (Silkie and Buff Brahma) that I got as pullets last year. It is a solid draft-free and predator-safe coop. I have four little bantam chicks (one each of: Silkie, Dark Brahma, Belgian d'uccle, and one Salmon faverolle) that seem to be in good health with no issues so far. Thank you for your advice :)
