You can make any breed a layer/pet. Its like art, it is what you say it is.

Cornish cross are the best meat birds in the chicken world, but are poor layers, and due to their abnormally fast growth rates are going to be suffering with major health problems by the time they reach laying age. You can try it if you like, but my advice if you want layers is to butcher those Cornish cross at 8 weeks and get some Black or Red Sex Links for laying. Good luck.
