I need to add ducks to a drake heavy flock. Our daytime temps here in my area of Texas are upper 90s and nighttime temps are in the 70s already. If I get more ducklings, how safe would it be to put them straight in an outside coop adjacent to the adults as long as I have plenty of fluffy bedding? I’ve seen suggestions of using feather dusters. Or I could make a hen cave. Important note is there is no electricity in said pen as it is in the pasture. Predator protection is good. I don’t think my husband will agree to raising them in the house. We have no garage, only a carport. Our shipping container shed gets much too hot in these temps during the day to brood them there as we did our original flock in early spring last year. Would love to hear from anyone who has successfully raised ducklings completely outdoors (without a momma duck).
