Raising ducklings without a heat lamp

Justvout of curiosity does anyone do this?I would like to try it.I was thinking of making some contraption with like a blanket or something,?any ideas?

Ducklings can handle cold at earlier ages than chicks but you still need a source of warmth.

They need heat. They cannot control their own body temperature. A heat source or mother duck is needed.

I raised my Spring Ducklings without a heat lamp, i wanted them to get used to a regular day/night cycle and built a Momma Heat Cave for them. It worked out great! They were never cold, slept in the night when it was dark and are healthy young ducks now.

I live in mo,we’re currently in spring and the highest it’s gotten is probably 80, and drops down usually into fifties or sixties, and on occasion into the fourties (46,47,48),the birds live in the house.Its four of them.

How old are they? - I kicked my ducklings out into a house outside at the age of four weeks in March, but they had an infrared lamp and a heat pad. I lost a two month old duck last year in August (!) during a "cold snap" down into the low 50's.

Their just 3 days old and currently live with my chicks who are using a heat lamp.

There are lots of options other than heat lamps. The hen huts, seem interesting and can be done with heating pads. But they are going to need heat. Mine came off it quite quickly last year unless it got really cold.

We are bathtub brooding, three 125 watt bulbs above the sink To keep the room warm.. A pet heat pad under the main towel is their safe space. At al most three weeks we have reduced the to 60 watt bulbs and turn the light off at night.

Last year I used a woolly hen and hot water bottle. With your temps you might be able to get away with just a woolly hen as long as you use the right materials and you start them off with it right away.
