Raising four young birds that I got as chicks. After a week of picking them up and putting them in their coop for the night, they still refuse to go in at night on their own. They will go in the coop throughout the day but at dark, they huddle together on the ground in their run.

This is a typical thing to see sometimes at that age. A small light that comes on, even a flashlight, in the coop will make them less worried to go in, when it is close to dark. You can do this until they get the hang of it.

How old are they?
How long have they been living in the coop?
Did you lock them in the coop for a few days to a week before allowing into the run?

The light in the coop trick works pretty good, but locking them in to 'home' them really helps.

They are about 7 weeks old now. Don't want to lock 'em up a few days because then I have to shift water and food. They go in and out all day, even sit on the inside roost.

As an update, I put a solar light in the coop. First night I had to urge them in, 2nd night, they got the idea and went in on their own.
