As some of you have probably read from other threads I have created, I am incubating two goose eggs (there was three, but one died, unfortunately).

There are about 12-15 days left, and they are still developing properly. There is one question, however, that I forgot to ask sooner.

Geese, I know, are very social creatures, but what if they are the same gender? I know this will not matter when they are younger, but what about when they are wanting to breed? Can two male geese live together? Two females?

I'm hoping for a pair, and I would like to continue breeding them afterwards, but I'm just not sure how The geese would get along if they are the same gender.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Hey I'm not expert but I think I read somewhere before that two ganders won't fight unless a female is in the mix and two females tend to try and mount each other for dominance or just to pretend to be the male.

Thanks for the reply!!!! I know I shouldn't count my geese before they hatch, but it's like I can feel them already they're getting so close!

I had 3 ganders. They lived happily together until mid February. 2 yearlings and a 2 year old (he raised the little guys). Then one day they all started fighting all the time. The older guy was getting the short end of the stick so I separated him at night and during the day when they were out together the other 2 would stalk him to the point he stuck by my side any time I was outside. Gets real old when you are needing to work a horse. Ended up building separate pens and getting a goose for the 2 year old. Moral of the story boys will fight even without girls but if you've only got two, they should be fine. Hope you end up with a pair.
