Raising Guinea Fowl 101

Does anyone treat their guineas with black oiled sunflower seeds? I have some and tried giving it to the guineas thinking they would go berserk over it. But they didn't, they were actually scared of the seeds and wouldn't go near them, unless I gave them a couple at a time.

I feed black oil sunflower seeds to everyone.... Guineas, Chickens, Goats, and Horse.... If its new give em time....

Great benefit is when you feed it to the horse the chickens can still pick missed ones out of the poo.....

I stopped feeding it to my chickens, they were not very interested in it. I lay some out and they eat about a quarter of what I put out and just forget about it. Odd

I posted this on a different guinea thread, but since you asked about treats, I will post it here too. My guineas love this stuff for a treat and won't eat any other treats now. It's mostly white millet flavored with orange. I usually get it at walmart. (I normally wouldn't buy stuff for my guineas there but got it once and they went crazy for it so now it's all I buy.) Here is is picture of it:

For the record, this is the original and only Guinea thread....:old

It is time!!!

My 3 Guineas that have been running loose for the last year are headed to prison.

They have been attacking my toads. Yesterday they had chased them into and behind a 55 gallon barrel. Today they had chased them into a corner and were pulling tail feathers. The grab one and run off and laugh.

They chased my toads away from their scratch and even went into the toad coop so the toads could not eat or get to their nests lay eggs.

Tonight once they hit the roost, they are gone! Off to the Guinea Gulag. They will see freedom after they give me 500 eggs.

I wish I had those "nice" guineas that never caused trouble.
