Poor thing. Hope she gets better soon!

well, guess she stopped bleeding on her own last night. came out raring to go. that was a lot of blood. i dont know how much their little body holds but i would guess she lost bout half a cup by the looks of it

When my daughter was walking around with her 3mon 2 week old guinea on her arm, It crossed my mind about the questions if they could be really tame. Then when she put it up on her shoulder and was walking around I got off my lazy butt and got the camera!
Thought you might want to see.

HI again starkasm I need advice again I think. I see your guineas are showing the spots. Mine are getting stripes like bars...the parents had the polka dots what happened to the babies. The mealy worms helped though and they now run to me to see if I have more. I held one the other night for the first time without it screaming. Great progress. They are now a month and aweek and growing daily. I am going to spend tomorrow uploading pics to my profile page. would like to upload the videos but will have to figure out how, well thank you for all your help though. I hope someday to know enough that i wont have to bug everyone with so many questions, this first time with the guineas everyhting is so new and they seem so different than my chickens. Thanks again.

Your babies are still young. They will get their spots. This little guy is just over a month old and no spots yet.

The one in the pics with my daughter is 3 1/2 months.
Give them time, they will get their ugly bald heads and polka dots! :)

This is our pretty boy, "Tick"

That's awesome you're holding them!! They do come around. As they get older they realize you're not going to eat them lol!

Also hun, I grew up with chickens, ducks, cows, goats etc....I Still come on here and ask questions! That's what's so great about this place.. I'm constantly learning!

Quote: This is actually a very good thing. Had they not been loud I would now have two dead keets. Twice now, while they are out free ranging I have had a keet slip down in a little teeny space between the greenhouse and chicken coop. The first one happened about three weeks ago. The second today. Had they not started screaming I would not have found them in time. The first time I thought I shoved the coop close enough that it wouldn't happen again. The one that happened today, I thought they were getting too big to fall down there but I was wrong. He/she had fallen into the space upside down and I went out after a nap ( i am suffering through theworst cold I have ever had) to check on them and heard one screaming the " Im all alone" cry mixed with another sound of terror. I ran around the yard in my bathrobe trying to find him and when i did i freaked. I tried to pull the board out the he was up against but he just slipped farther down. But not quite to the ground and still upside down. At this point if i were to let go of the board, he would have been crushed, I gave one more solid tug on the board and managed to get two fingers under him and slide him up and out. Scared us both badly. Called my husband at work crying. I have boarded it all up since and there is no room for a beetle to fall in there now. But i can't help but think what if?
