Ciao all,
I have raised Full sized pure breads and Hybrids in the uk fr many years, but i moved to Sardegna, Italy 5 years ago and missed my hens so much that I now have the start of a new family. 1 cockrel, 3 hens and a 4 month chick ( the crows took het siblings) All Silkies. They are super friendly and after a few months my Yorkshire terriers and Chickens are happy to live side by side.
It's quite a challenge in our hot summers to make sure they stay healthy. Any advice us really welcome.
I have found they have a love of watermelon.

Welcome to BYC!
We have very hot summers also. As long as they have shade and water, mine do well. I use a barn fan to help keep a breeze stirring. I add electrolytes to one, but not all, of their waterers. I keep a few areas muddy in the shade, so that they can scratch in it to cool off. Mine get a melon almost every week and they love it.
Good luck with your flock!
