Ramadan

What are the reasons or why they do it by standing and bowing, standing back up or rocking back and forth???? I could just think of my knees aching after all that! I love the chanter or the greeting...sounds haunting but could not find it on U Tube but it was displayed in NG channel which they do it three times a day?? Everyone would stop and listen to the call.

Yes I know they are doing their prayers but reasons behind doing the act of kneeling, rocking, and so forth. Is it because putting yourself in "pain" of repeated acts would make you pyschologically fit or because of a certain "ancestor" walked on their knees for miles to worship or what?

I know us depending on religion, for us to kneel, is to submit or make yourself smaller in front of God and hands together means either to beg or make a "temple". That would be my guess. Crossing motions in front of breast signify Christ on the cross.

Water, muslims aren't allowed alchol at all.

no eating or drinking anything from sunrise to sunset. some of the more hardcore muslims don't even swallow their own saliva during ramadan, but most people agree that that's a bit excessive.

and we pray that way because the prophet mohamed told us that is how we should pray. but there's no rocking involved

Agree...And how intertwined the Abrahamic religions (Christianity, Judaism, Islam) are. For example, Muhammad was Abraham's great-grandson. Mecca is a holy site because it was chosen as such by Adam.
