8 weeks old are plenty old enough to be outside in a RUN and COOP at night .

Hubby built them a ladder with steps to enter to their own entering door . ONCE 1 chicken starts entering the usually all follow . Birds of a feather .. LOL 1st. night we had to gather a few and put them inside them close the door completely to the coop . NOW they are followers . ITS to cute to watch them .

Chickens naturally want to "go up."
While they sometimes need a little coaxing, it shouldn't be cause for alarm. They'll get it soon enough.

One way to help them is to start them early. I put ladders and 'climbie things' in their brooder pen at an early age. By the time they get outside, they know what to do.

well , Its 8:30 PM , just light enough to see the chicks . I found my 10 black austolorps all hurdled in corner of the run and ALL the rest have gone inside the coop . They are 13 - 14 weeks old and its warm enough outside not to worry about them . RUN is totally preditor proof , SO I guess they will enter when they good and ready to . I know early this morning , THEY were all in the coop . SO , I guess this CHICKIE MOMMY can just quit worrying . LOL

Hubby said leave them be , they will learn from the others .
