It's all chicken feed and a little difference in protein won't matter

Yes. They are on the verge of the age when you'd change anyway. The layer feed has more calcium which you don't want to give to younger chicks because it can cause bone deformities. It's all chicken feed.

At seventeen weeks the extra calcium is not going to hurt them any.
