Ok.. I dont know how to ask this..

What is the best way to go from Chicken to dinner..

I dont want to hear stories about the twirling neck story..

But I wanna know what is the best, and not as horrific way of killing a chicken for dinner.

Dont get me wrong, I know how... im just looking for the most humane.

I think most people differ on what is the most humane way to 'dispatch' a chicken. For me, it's the old fashioned standby - put the head on a stump between two nails, and chop the head off with an axe. Let them run around a bit, then hang them upside down to drain any excess blood.

I do think that if you quickly lop off the head, that's really the best way.

Its sounds fast... I think Ill try that... that fast head chop off...

Right now we slice the neck... but thats horrific...

I hang them upside down first(early morning while they are quiet). Then I cut their throat, but don't cut the head off. They die quickly and quietly, without the commotion that occurs when the spine is severed. The chicken is already hung to drain the blood, and it didn't spray one me. I've done both ways, and I prefer the quiet process.
