What age do roosters start trying to mate with the females? Our roosters are only 6 weeks old and we noticed they are starting to mount the girls. Is this normal? Do we need to rehome the roosters soon? I don’t want my girls getting beat up.

If your roosters are doing this at 6 weeks,, (they are called cockerels until one year old), I believe they have HORNS,, :gig I would rehome them now, if you do not need roosters for your flock.. (breeding/protecting)
Generally roosters/cockerels need to be over 6 months old to be successful dads. Things do vary by breed also.
Then we get to the discussion of a rooster being a GOOD ROOSTER. Young roosters have an overactive hormone imbalance causing them to be overactive sexually. Many hens become feather short, during times of those rooster developments. Generally, a mature rooster will be a docile, and good breeding partner with no vicious action at maybe 1 1/2 years of age.

Probably more like dominate, rather than mate....but it's much same.
My 7wo are doing this now.
If the males are harassing the females too much,
(pulling feathers, pinning down and pecking, any blood letting),
separate the males now.
