Sheldon & Leonard ... yes tacky I know :plbb

Procured after a two hour drive to a farm in the middle of precisely no place at all. Free range dudes and very very mild tempered which has secured them a spot for life. But I have No clue what breeds they are?

The dark one reminds me of my silver-laced black Wyandotte hens, but I’m not sure what the roos look like. My girls have clean yellow legs. His legs look, in the photos, like they may be pinkish gray and possibly have a few feathers on? I think the (Wyandotte) rose combs are dominant. His is lovely. He might be partly SLBW (or even completely if his legs actually conform—I’m not sure, from the photos.

His legs are partially feathered, both boys have some pretty severe frostbite damage and are missing toes. The dark one ( Sheldon) I agree kind of looks like the Wyandotte roo’s but darker when I put them side by side photos. His spurs are a good 3 inches long. Does this correlate in anyway to age? Does a roosters repro slow down after a certain age? Just wondering as Sheldon is the Boss. He doesn’t pick on Leonard but Leonard never crows and stays away from Sheldon. More of a deference than a fear thing? It’s neat to see.

All I know about the spurs is that they get longer as they age, and (possibly useful tidbit) that you can remove the caps by sticking the spur into a hot potato to soften it, then it’ll twist off painlessly. I haven’t tried this, but I would, at need.

I don’t know that I want to traumatize him with potatoes lol! But he’s so mellow they haven’t been an issue. He is so handsome, I think I’ll have to order some of the slbw ladies for him. I haven’t seen those eggs, but I can certainly order the chicks. :weepoor husband will ask me Again... “How many chickens do you actually Need?” :barnie
