I need to rant and vent a bit today and its better that I do it here then at work.
So FYI I work custodial/maintanence for the USPS. I do the cleaning and gemeral fix it stuff for 2 offices 3hrs a day 6 days a week.
My main office is in an 1907 custom made PO. Beautiful building. Has its quirks though. One of them being the 100+ yr old radiatora and the brand new boiler put in last year. Finally.
Now I've been out on medical for 2 1/2 months. Nobody messes with the boiler. Myself and our Field Maintanence are the ones who know what it does and why. We are there when ANY outside contractor is there to work or inspect it.
Only been cleared back to work 3 days now. Got a call from my boss while at the other office this morning. Its cold, only half the rads are working, the office and clerk area werent. Buy the rest was on, I figured prolly with it having been 50 last night the boiler hadnt run as long, would have taken longer to heat everything up.
I got in before 11 check the rads, those ones are still cold, no one had closed the vents or messed with them. So I go check the boiler. Its FULL. FULL of water!. This building is quirky and the system will outright Flood when handled wrong.
We had an overflow system installed with the new boiler to prevent this.
So here I am about to go ballistic on the guy who has been "cleaning" in my abscense because some on told jim to clean and mop the basement, and the boss mentions " Oh, the boiler inspectors were here the otherday."
The inspector. The F#@%ing INSPECTOR shut OFF our overflow system!! It'd been overfilling for over a day! Another and it would have succeeded in spewing water out ALL the rads! I'm pissed!!
