I am soo angry right now. I have been wanting a mini horse for awhile but didnt really know alot about them. So I found one on a classifieds site last week and I wanted her. So on saturday I built her a shelter and fenced off a new section. I went to the feed store bought horse feed, hay, shots(because she hadnt had any), horse wormer, and some treats for her. I dont own a horse trailer so I had to ask to borrow one from a friend of mine. I called the horse owner and talked to him and asked him about coming for her yesterday and he wasnt going to be home but would be available today. I am scared to drive with the horse trailer so my dad took off work today to go with me. When we got there he comes strolling outside with his child (about 10-12 years old) and says well she and my wife really wanted to sell it before but she threw a fit to keep it and I cant sell it now.

I am sooo angry right now, but its not even about the fact that he didnt want to sell the horse. It is because no one had the courtesy to call and my dad wasted a whole day off for nothing. He said I have been calling all day trying to tell you. Um... NO my phone has been on and with me all day there is no way you called once much less 10 times. I dont quite understand some people and just needed to vent.

Oh I would be

I have learned the hard way to make sure I have the animal before I go buy all the supplies. I have had that happen to me twice when getting a dog. Spent a couple hundred on stuff and then they backed out.

When I was there I was fuming but I didnt even open my mouth because I knew if I did it would not be pretty, I just went back to the truck.I was kinda shocked when he told me that, because in his ad that had been on there for about a week when I saw it and he had reduced the price three times from 600 to 400 to 200 because his daughter and wife "both wanted it gone asap". I have bought many things off of that site and sold alot too so I guess I just never thought about him backing out because they needed it gone so soon. Thats why I bought all the supplies, I am glad I didnt buy all the stuff I was tempted to buy. I havent seen alot of minis for sale around here but hopefully I will find one soon.

It sucks that happend but think of it this way. Now everything is ready for when you do get one. You will just have to pick it up thats all. Perhaps your next one will go better. Check the site you found it on and if it is still posted then post a bulletin saying what happened and that buyer beware.

Yeah, I saw an Irish Setter older female in the pound, she was going to be available the next day because no one had come for her. I got a collar, leash, dog bowl and all for her. Then when I went to get her...it turns out her owner had JUST picked her up! I did not know if I should be happy or sad. She had been in the pound for weeks and he had JUST found her - the same day I would have adopted and loved her.

Sounds like you did all that you could. Now you are ready when the right one comes along. Best wishes!

I went through the same thing a few years ago.
Went and rode the horse twice. We agreed on the amount etc.
Day we went to get her they had changed their mind on selling her at all. Mind you I had to pay for trailering since we dont have a truck/trailer. So I got there 5 minutes before the guy with the trailer to get her set and ready to go to be told "changed our minds" Still cost me to have the guy drive out to get her though. $125 gone and more than an hour on the road just THAT day.
