Rantings to stop eating Free Range eggs~ please respond !

Lots of misinformation here on the impact of eating or not eating animals....

Approximately 40% of the worlds grain is fed to agricultural animals. Stop producing food animals and you free up all that food for human consumption. Or reduce it by have and you still have more food available. In the United States alone we feed enough grain to animals to feed at additional 840 million vegetarians. For every pound of meat produced 6 pound of grain are used. This means more water, fertilizer and land use for a meat based diet than for a plant based diet.

It takes about 220 gallons of water to produce 16oz of soybeans, and about 2000 gallons of water to produce 16 oz of beef.

But I don't like soybeans.

Me neither. I cheerfully eat meat, but I'm not a moron who thinks that meat doesn't come at a higher environmental cost than plant material. I also am smart enough to know that not all land is suitable for cultivation but can sustain grazing.

As for tofu...the person who invented that stuff should be sentenced to eating it, unflavored, for the rest of eternity. UGH! definitely not good eats. Double

A olt of the scenarios mentioned (Ie. corporate controlled food), are well on their way without the help of plant eaters.

The problem I personally have with the argument that vegetarianism/veganism/technology/etc will free up resources is that unless population growth is addressed, any of those gains will eventually become void.

I think you are forgetting about rice. The hull or husk is used but not the kernel. It is the #1 grain produced worldwide.

Most grain in animal feed are the byproducts post human use like wheat middlings, spent brewing grain, and then soybean is added for protein. Very little whole grain is used. Alfalfa is a cheap filler also.

Nope...still has that nasty tofu texture...sort of like cheese crossed with rubber.

lol... i remember my first time trying it...that sounds like a firm tofu... the softer tofu is a little better. I eat it seasoned and fried with soy sauce, garlic, and spicy red pepper flakes... accompanied with white rice and beef strips. (korean style..... and only at grandmas...cause If you don't eat it...that Is just being rude) true that I could not put it in my mouth without the strong over powering spices. My Grandma used to make it from scratch... the kind you might get in the vegan section might have rubber in it.. dunno ... I don't buy it.

Can you produce one of these studies? Plants lack a nervous system and a brain, so I find that highly doubtful.
Its true. Some plants need a female and male plant. The plants that dont are called self pollinating plants. Thats when things like the wind push "male pollen" into the middle of the flower where the "female pollen" is :p. I think kiwi trees/bush/vines are an example of male and female. (male and female are not the right word to use I think but its just easier to explain with

Cannabis is one such plant that has male, female, and hermaphrodite plants. Also only male plants have pollen. Yes Male and Female are the right words to use.
