I will be offering Ponape and Raraku Hatching Eggs this year! Both of these landraces are generally wild and flighty and have a higher proportion of Junglefowl than your average domestic chicken.
+ Ponape - Both Saudeleur Ponape and Ponape Junglefowl in the line
Ponape are a Micronesian landrace from the island of Pohnpei. As a product of Junglefowl crosses, Ponape are quite wild and have a great survival instinct. They still thrive in feral populations on their home island today. The Gold Saudeleur type Ponape was considered the most beautiful and valuable by the people of Pohnpei but other morphs and the Ponape Junglefowl are incredibly important cultural treasures in their own. Stunning birds with a charm all their own!
+ Raraku - Some of the last Kiri Kiri have been folded into One Line
Raraku are a landrace from Easter Island (Rapa Nui) and are named after the Raraku Crater on the island. Like Ponape they are also a product of Junglefowl crosses, giving them intense and luminous iridescence. The Raraku are smaller and even more wild than Ponape on average but seldom aggressive in my experience. They are exceedingly thrifty and hardy and can fly incredibly well. They are graceful and majestic, truly a mesmerizing bird to behold. My flock has some of the last known Kiri Kiri folded in, hopefully to be reconstructed along the way into thriving modern iteration of Kiri Kiri. Not all of my foundry stock has Kiri Kiri so you can request eggs with or without Kiri Kiri.
