Bale of hay is out for scratching. Moved some pieces of wood into the run. Will likely have lots of goodies under them in a couple of days due to all the rain. Scare Kate will have to wait a bit, though.

No you're not! I was telling her the other day I hang up some old coats and sweatshirts on my fence with the arms stretched out to keep the hawks away. I call them my "scareCaths". Now you're in on it!!!! Her name is Kate so hers would be scare Kates!

UPDATE: Those %*$#@! raptors are Red Shouldered Hawks. I got a good look at them today. There are 2 consistently in my area, and they seem to be juveniles. I hadn't seen them for a couple of weeks, probably because the weather has been very very windy with rain on and off. Today is absolutely picture perfect gorgeous, so of course they're out there. With my binoculars, I watched one eat a rodent a few hundred yards away. My girls were confined, but Zinnia, my BPR, is pacing at the gate. Better bored than someone's lunch.

I love birds, but I hate these %#÷#$%! hawks.

Now I'm REALLY second guessing my incoming order of bantams...

We have lots of red tailed hawks. Last year was the second time in 10 years I lost a bird to one.

Do you plan to have a covered run? My bantam in general don't require as much free range time and often just stay in their run.

Providing cover can help, as well as having roosters for look outs.
