Raptors, Raptors Everywhere!

There are always tons of them flying around here this time of year. When they are up high in the sky you should not need to worry about them attacking your birds. Red tailed hawks, and most other hawks, hunt from trees. Not all hawks are big on chicken hunting but some can be real annoying problems.

Here is one that is more interested in a dead raccoon than it is in the birds. All of my chickens, ducks, and turkeys were out free ranging at this time right over there. You can even see the back end of one of the coops.

So that’s what eats dead raccoons! Lol... I tried using a dead raccoon as a bait for trapping one winter and nothing touched it for 3 weeks!

Wow!
This raccoon killed 2 ducks and 3 chickens this winter. I trapped her and then put out the body because I was wondering what would eat it. I have gotten 4 animals on camera looking at it so far. The hawk was the only one actually trying to eat it. The rest were just sniffing at it.
