I have a Raraku cockerel available. I'm looking to sell the younger of the two males, who according to their parent's photos should be striking! They look more and more handsome every day. I'm asking $40 for him.
[I'll get some better photos soon, or I can send some upon request]
A little about Rarakus:
Rarakus are a landrace breed from Rapanui, more commonly known as Easter Island. They arrived when Polonesian explorers landed on the island and were kept by the Rapanui people. Their heritage is linked to both the Red Junglefowl and Green Junglefowl, so the coveted Ayam Bekisar is also part of their history as well! There is a wealth of intrigue behind this landrace making them a real conversation point! These birds are a bit on the "feral" side but aren't aggressive at all. They aren't too afraid of me and let me enter their pen and even occasionally eat out of my hand.
This bird would be great for anyone with a collection of rare chickens, and hens are out there if you look hard enough. If you want a hen, I do have some younger Ponape, (also considered a Rapanui type) from the Island of Pohnpei (also arrived on the island from Polynesian travelers). I would be willing to sell one if you want a pair. Again these aren't the same landrace, but it would be a start for someone interested in getting into the Rapanui fowl.
Here's a few articles that tell a bit about these illusive birds:
