All right. Let's wait to get it started. We will continue chatting and making friends. I am impressed with 5 pages of chat the first day. Our list really grew. I was having some trouble yesterday keeping up with all the adds.

*** I HAVE AN IDEA! ***

Please let me know the general consensus. We could morph this thread into a list of rare poultry breeders who are willing to swap eggs. I will continue maintaining the ever expanding list at the beginning of the thread. Everyone can use any medium to contact each other to organize their own trades when their birds are cooperating. This definitely gets like minded people together.

Once everyone (rather their birds) gets in full swing egg season, we can start a rare egg chain so we can get those breeds that we have been unable to negotiate a swap for.

Sound good?

I AM interested, but it would be better for me if it occured in a few weeks the only birds other than quail laying regularly here in the frozen north are my swans.

You have swans laying in extreme cold? I've never been around any but I would of thought they were like other waterfowl like ducks and laid in seasons.

Very interesting...

I like the sound of private swaps for now and then chain a little later.

Here's my list (It is kind of long) Only listing ones that I consider rare.

Standard Chickens
Buckeyes
Andulusians
B/B/S Orpingtons
Barnevelders

Ducks
Golden Cascades
Saxony

Geese
White Sebastopols
Blue Sebastopols
Pilgrims
Lavendar Ice Americans
Shetlands

I am interested in side trades as well. Not right now, maybe in a month or so for most varieties. Here's my list

Copper Black Maran, from bayhorsebonne
Blue/Black/Splash marans, clean legged, of unknown origins. Lay medium brown mostly.
Bantam Black Mottled Cochins
Mille Fleur Bantam Cochin project, (F1 stage)
Barred Bearded Olive Egger project, still in the works, but willing to share what I have so far. This might actually be my favorite project.

I'm not really sure what's considered a rare breed. Obviously my EEs aren't

but here's what else I have and you all can decide what's "rare".

Buff Laced Polish (bantam)
Cochins w/ Frizzle possibility (bantam)
Silkies

I'm such a newbie, I'd be having fun with any eggs to try!!
I might trade for EE's... so put them on your list as available at least...
I have separation started and hoping to check fertility in a week or two, then we will start collecting I'm now told 2+ weeks and it's the full Maran's off spring...
:)
