Ok, you broke me down....can't stand watching this thread set. I need more eggs like I need a hole in the head, but I'll take the Welsummer eggs and offer 9 Light Brahma Bantam eggs. My adults were purchased from a show breeder, and are producing very nice quality chicks.

Maybe I need to rig up lights around all of my chickens. I'll make them "think" it's summer again!

Thanks for the compliment on my birds! Lights do make a difference. I keep them on in the barn, and the birds outside will get lights on a timer once winter gets here. Then, when I think they need a break, I'll rotate birds around, and let them quit laying for a while. Our neighbor has chickens and sells eating eggs, but he complains all winter that they aren't laying. I've told him to put a light on them, but he won't do it because of the electric bill. I know for a fact his feed bill is a lot higher than the electric increase if he ran a light. OH Well....guess he's the one paying the freight.
