Our egg production went up when we added lights with our eating eggs. We went from 2 eggs to 7 eggs, with 9 hens. Two of my hens aren't laying yet.

We just built a new coop for our Black Cochins and tomorrow we'll add a light for them.

I would love to have the Brahmas, but all I have is Cuckoo Marans, 2 eggs a day, like clockwork. So far anyway. They wouldn't be considered rare or fancy. Sooooo, I will wait until my rare and fancy birds begin to lay!

No, I had better pass. Too close to winter, and I am still building, yet another, coop for this last bunch (3 week olds). I need to just stop being so ....... I need to just stop!

I will plan to try this, maybe in the spring! I have ducks in the bator, for my neighbor, currently. Sorry I interupted the thread.

Thanks, okiehen! I just wish someone would take them. If it would help, I could offer a choice of the Light Brahma Bantams or 6+ LF Silver Penciled Rocks, but it will take a couple days to get them, as I sold all I had over the weekend.

Ducky, you have nice birds. Be patient. The amount of time they sit on here is not a reflection of want.

Mine have all almost stopped laying at this point and I haven't had the time to get lights rigged. Some of us will get it together soon.

Mine are not laying either so I can't play otherwise I would love to have some of your birds. I checked into running a light to my mixed layer pen the one we use for eggs but it is 300 feet from the nearest building. I am not real sure how to get a light out that far.
