Hello! I have a 3 month old chick that seems to have developed some yellow/scaly/moist rash under one of her wings. She also has seemed to be a little more lethargic, but has been eating/drinking/stooling normally. Approximately 4 days ago we did a permethrin dip due to noticing some fleas in their coop, so I’m not sure if that’s related. Any ideas on cause and/or treatment?

Where are you located in the world?

Did the birds have fleas on them?

You treated the coop too right?

The problem with the skin could be from dipping her. I'd give her a wash up in dandruff shampoo to see if that helps. Make sure to dry her really well. Use a hair dryer on low.

See if the skin starts to clear up, if it does, you may need to give her another wash up in a week or so.

If you need to re-treat for external parasites, it may be a good idea to use a Permethrin Poultry Dust instead of dipping the birds. Put the dust in a sock and use it like a powder puff to dust all over working the dust down through the feathers to the skin.

Treat housing with your spray.
