Alaska has its chalanges, one is shipping. I wanted to raise some quail. Yeah i know its the duck section but i could not let @Jpat have all the fun.

Cost of 25 eggs $18
Cost of usps shipping 2-3 day 59.00

I was not about to do that so i figured i would double the order and use slow shipping. Problem is not enough space in the bator. Here is what i have rigged up: bulb for heat, fan for air flow, water pan for humidity. Manually flip the eggs in the carton. Had all of this sitting around, should work right?
I have two 1inch holes for vent, i figure that should be enough?

25 eggs will fit in my store bought bator, then 18 in here and the last 7 are going under my dads broody rouen.

:yesss::highfive: I love homemade stuff!

The two 1 inch holes should be okay, if your temps are going wacky you can tape one over
And like i seid the humidity is based on how muvh surface area the water has so if its too high just get a dish with a smaller opening

Calibrate lots of thermometers

Goodluck! I hope your hatch goes great

quail eggs are hard to candle, But definitly another 3-4 you will see some veins

They hatch so much quicker than ducks in fun
