Rats in my coop and stealing my eggs

I had the same issue but ended up using it to my advantage. One pesky rat kept coming in and eating the egg after my hand would lay it so I put the egg in a small cage trap too small for my hands to get into. I picked up all of the other eggs as quickly as I could to avoid the rats getting at them left the one in the Trap and let their hunger do the work for me
