We generally put the shiba in her crate with the bones because she causes too much trouble. She won't eat the bones on surfaces she's supposed (we have specific dog blankets for raw bone eating) and she either tries to take the akitas bone, chew her bone too close to the akita's, or tempts the akita into trying to take her bone. It just doesn't work and has led to the shiba getting knocked around or flattened. It's just easier to crate her and she will happily run in to her crate if she sees a treat or meal coming.
