re-asking what I thought would be a simple question

I need to build a brooder for 200 to 300 chicks, how big does that have to be to not have crowding issuses? How many squ/inches per chick?

If I were doing that number, I'd plan to have the coop set up, and use part of it for the chicks, enlarging the space as the weeks go by. Cornish cross chicks will be different from leghorns, and dual purpose birds will also grow at a different rate. More space is always best; I never use the minimum space recommended after the first week or so. Mary
