I have 3 eggs in the incubator,one hatched Friday morning have one egg that has a little hole and can hear something in there tapping.How long does it usually take to come out ?.the due date was Thursday.

Its been my experience that there is a short break of up to a couple hours and then they start to unzip the shell with more cracks and pips connected to eachother. Then the shell opens up and out pops the chick. Zipping can be quick or take a couple of hours.

I usually leave them on their own unless there is a long time with no progress.

What kind of eggs are you hatching? They are all a little different. Duck eggs take a long time--it can be 24-48 hours from pip to zip, and zipping can take several hours. Chicken eggs are quicker, but it can still be a long wait between pip and zip, because the baby rests and absorbs the rest of the yolk before continuing.
