Hello, I live in Katy Texas. My daughter received a duckling from a friend as gift. We can’t possibly keep it. It is now 3 weeks old and we are desperate to find a place for the duckling. We are willing to drive. Please help! Anyone willing to take him. He is a black duckling, I think it’s a Caluga.

I’ve been reading about releasing it, thought maybe that was an option as well. I realize that it’s not safe for the duckling.
Releasing it would be a terrible idea and will most likely kill it. It's way too young, and Cayuga is also a domesticated breed that is not well equipped to take care of itself.

I sincerely hope you find someone to take care of it! :fl Would have helped if I lived in the US.

If it is a female, I can take it in.

I currently have a male cayuga, a female pekin and two female mallards. I don't have enough females to support another male. I have 55 acres with a pond that is an acre and a half. Their enclosure is half in and half out of the pond and they have a nice duck house.

I am in north central AR so that is a good 9 hour drive for you. We could drive an hour... maybe two... if you can't find anyone closer.
