Good evening,

We re-homed 2 quails on Sunday. Monday and Tuesday we had eggs and then all of a sudden they stopped.
They are in a coop with the other 3 we already had who aren't laying either.
We are in the UK and feed Heygates layer pellets.
Is it normal for them to lay for a few days then stop because they're somewhere new?
They have calcium and mealworms a few times a week.
My other 3 were laying a few weeks back but stopped about 1/2 weeks ago for some unknown reason.
Not sure where I'm going wrong really? :(

Any advice or knowledge on this would be really appreciated.

Thank you :thumbsup

You birds may take up to a two week break from laying after their move.

Are you feeding chicken layer pellets? If so, it is not adequate nutrition for quail.

Heygates appears to have a couple of Quail formulas. One is a "Grower" with 20% protein and the other is a "Breeder/Layer" with 19.5%. I can't tell if OP is feeding one of those or one of their chicken blends. I can't find much other nutrition info on any of their feeds, but it looks like many of them have Avatec or some other medication.

What little I've found on Heygates doesn't give me confidence that they're getting proper nutrition.

No I'm feeding quail layer pellets. Not sure where you're from but everyone else in the UK feeds them on this and they are fine. Unless you have something else to suggest?

Im feeding the one for quails as I know the chicken one is not good for them... It's what everyone recommended to feed on the quail group on facebook. There is nothing else that is high percentage apart from something for chicks.
