FA08451F-B9C2-4EF1-9CF1-1ACD7E364C28.jpeg we have a 5 month old silkie roo that we’ve had since he was 1 month old. He was supposed to be a pullet. He has been living in the house because we can’t have him crowing in this neighborhood. We are very attached but it has become increasingly difficult. His hormones are kicking in and he is showing some aggression. I give him treats and he drops them and calls for a hen of which he has never had one. Yet he still comes on me to roost at night before we go to bed. He has watched more Hallmark movies than most people.

This is not what is best for him. We found a farm sanctuary that will take him and we are bringing him there tomorrow (actually later today since it is after midnight. So my daughter and I are having a very sad night. He was even more snuggly than usual tonight as if he knew it was our last.

It is going to be so hard leaving him there. I hope he’s super aggressive in the morning so it will make it easier!

At least the farm is near by and perhaps we can occasionally visit.

Thanks for listening.

My daughter had to rehome a cockerel who was supposed to be a pullet too. It is sad, but he should have a wonderful life at a sanctuary. My daughter's went to a small farm where he had 10 hens of his own. She got an update and picture when he fathered his first offspring.
