I have a chicken who made a nest outside the coop. I put a chicken run over her to protect her and put a game camera up to see what was eating her eggs. The begining it was squirrels, after I put the run over her to protect her a raccoon came along. I am afraid that the raccoon will dig under and get her. I want to put her in our coop with her nest and the rest of the flock but when she is around they all attack her (including the ducks) How do I introduce her back into the flock without her being harmed?

did I mention that she is my favorite

she loves people and acts like a cat LOL.. she loves being cuddled and she is the only one in the flock that does.

Shoot, there are cats that don't act that sweet! Sounds like a great bird.

Can you put her in a cage and put that in the coop? Lets the others see her and might minimize the aggression before letting her out BUT

they are going to challenge her as a returnee. Gotta get that pecking order in order.

How bad it the 'attack'?

it was pretty bad, even the ducks were after her.. this morning all her eggs are gone except one.. a squirrel dug under and got them all (game camera) so now she is out and about.. I think she has stopped brooding. the rooster went after her but it seems the others have left her alone. She is at the bottom of the pecking order because she is not aggressive at all.. I think she is going to be just fine. I think I am going today to get some fencing and instead of them free ranging I am going to pen them in a large area so that this doesn't happen again and I know where they are. I am missing one chicken and I think she won't be back :( so to protect the rest I will have to keep them penned in instead of free ranging them. There are too many predators in this area..
