I just wanted to re-introduce myself... My name is Crystal Smith and I am the proud owner of 9 RIR and 3 Sex-linked Comets. We just had our very 1st egg layed today and we are SO excited!!! We are even more excited to start hatching our own babies!

My 10 yr old son, Austin will be showing these in the local fair next year and he can't wait!! and, while they are "his" I do alot of the chores so I consider them mine as well. Of course as with any animal, you develop your favorites. Rule #1 -- If it has a name, we dont eat it!!!

We own a small rabbitry in Central Illinois (Farmer City to be exact) and raise Polish, Dutch, Mini Satin and Californian rabbits. We have one oddball, a 1 yr old Netherland Dwarf that is MY BABY!!! I have 3 children, Cody is 13, Austin is 10 and Autumn is 7. I have been married 13 yrs to a very wonderful, understanding "city boy". I have slowly begun to countryfy him LOL

We have a website www.codysrabbitcave.net for our rabbits and chickens. We are in the process of getting some egg cartons with our names on them as we have already had neighbors asking about the eggs!!! We have also had people ask about us having any chickens & rabbits for meat. I always tell them.. sure will, but it'll be a bit yet!!

We currently have a 20 sq ft coop with 40 sq ft fully enclosed run. I am looking at adding another area for them to graze on just off the coop run. I live on a VERY busy road and I would not want to have one of my precious babies become Road Kill!!

I have also considered getting a 2nd coop up, maybe a little bigger so we have room to grow some for meat for us.

So now the fun stuff... on top of the 12 or so chickens and the 60 rabbits we also have 2 dogs, a cat, a very vocal Quaker parrot, 2 hedgehogs and a lonely Guinea Pig (his cage mate just passed at 6 1/2 yrs old) I am currently a stay at home and love it!!

If anyone has any advice, I'll gladly take it!!!

Thanks and have a great week!!
