it’s been a very long time since I have posted my introduction. I honestly thought that it was going to be a very long time before chickens could be in my life. Recently life changed its course and long story short I went from working full time plus and running the family business to running the family business by retaking an early retirement package when my former employer need to downsize. The Thursday before Easter and a week left of half days at the office I was driving home and I decided it was time for my chickens and I pointed my car toward a wonderful feed store I have visited many times. I knew where they got their chicks and knew they would help me with any issues. Beside the grandkids we’re all coming for the Easter weekend and could help name them.

So here we are with five 6 week old chicks. Weather has slowed down the coop build so we found bigger boxes for the brood box and made a few roosts. The coop will be done in a could of daysand run should be done by the weekend.

My flock is a variety...Mardi Gras is a Black Star, Darcy is a Copper Maran, Peepers is a Brahma, Hollar is an Americana, and Mocha is a Bantam Buff Brahma.

So far it has been a wonderfully fun journey. All the girls will readily get on my hand and eat from it. Seeing the process of the girls developing has been fascinating. All their wonderful personalities are delightful.

I love to work with wood and build things so building my own coop was a must. I also love to garden, sew, write and fish. I’m definitely a DIY’er and now I have time for it.

I received the “You Rock” award from the Grandkids at Easter. The dogs are very curious and the cats which are indoor only wonder what the funny noise coming from the utility room is.

My full-time job was a petroleum geologist and my business is one that my dad started 30 years ago from the garage...and it’s now in my garage. We manufacture Sport Fishing fighting plates and harnesses.

Although I have not been posting, I have been reading the threads all the time and thank you for all the wonderful information.
