Great ideas but I still keep going back to the idea of a hen sitting in a commode each day to lay her egg...makes me smile! Practical? I don't know, it would be used, sort of for the reason it was created to begin with, to sit down and make a 'deposit!'

The only thing better than one toilet would be a row of stalls with one in each, just like a public bathroom--the ladies would choose their favorite stall and do their thing...still makes me laugh

you could turn them into little fountains! throw in some little gold fish... pop in a water lily or two...

A little more serious today, I think... on taking my peeps to the coop, taking them outside to the garden for the first time and about the frank discussion I felt I needed to have with them about personal hygiene-- flossing not included.

I have been derelict in my photo-shooting duties and to finally reveal the coop! But alas, it is already 1AM Monday, which means the week has begun and I still up!

Ryan you really are a wonderful writer!
When I was young my favorite books were along this line, the humorous and tender side of being with animals. The Egg and I was one that I laughed my way through. Another, the name of which eludes me at the moment, was about a man in Canada who shared his cabin home with a mountain lion. Your writing reminds me so much of these books which I enjoyed so much.
Thank you for sharing not only your adventure, but your wonderful talent!
