You can as long as you give them grit as well. Keep in mind that scratch is 'chicken candy.' It is just empty calories for them, no real nutrition in it at all.

Ok thanks. They just seem a little bored in their brooder. I would like to take them outside but they can still walk through my pen.

If you can pull up a chunk of grass with roots and dirt put it in the brooder. They will go nuts for that. You can also find some thick sticks for them to practice roosting on.

Good idea about the grass. We do have quite an assortment of sticks and logs for perches for them.
