I’ve given up on the previous quail enclosure I was building due to a ragworth issue.
So starting from scratch again.
I’m thinking of starting with a dog box- maybe adding insulation? Metal panels around it wrapped in chicken wire? Should I put chicken wire under the whole thing with soil on top?
I want to enclose part of it with something waterproof as it gets quite cold and wet here-
Any ideas? It rarely gets very hot here so biggest issues are a lot of rain and in winter it gets very cold.
Not opposed to throwing out this whole idea and going with something else if someone has a better idea.

I want something that provides them with decent outdoor space. I have 5 quail currently but may add more in the future

Chicken wire is not going to keep predators out and may not keep the quail in. 1/2" hardware cloth is a better choice.

I've had good luck with Tyvek for water proofing as long as it's under something to protect it from wind.

This is the mesh/chicken wire I was thinking of. Do you think that’s not good enough? Most places just advertise as chicken wire/fox wire.
Honestly not sure what the difference is in different types- prices vary.

I’ll have a look at Tyvek. Thank you

That looks like hardware cloth. If you can put some one the bottom anf put dirt over it, that should keep rats and other diggers out.

Everything likes to eat quail.
