Reaching out for some help - stopover in Oregon?

Hello everyone,

I've been checking out this site now and then over the years, but this is my first post. Thank you to all of you who have helped us with our chickens, turkeys, quail and ducks!

We are moving from northern California to Vancouver, BC. We have a large property and a lot of pets, most of which I've been able to rehome. My daughter is particularly attached to our 3 ducks (2 mallards, 1 Pekin) and 2-3 bantam hens which she hatched. All have been with us since they were ducklings/chicks.

I have spent months trying to figure out what to do. So far, the best option is that my friend in northern Washington can board them for us, such that they're close to the border and we can visit. The challenge is that it's a ~14 hr drive from our house to myy friend's, and it's not something I can (or want) to do in one go. I've done it in 1.5 days, but not one. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a place in Oregon where we can stop so that we can let the ducks/hens free to stretch their legs, eat, etc. overnight before the 2nd part of the drive. Preferably, this would be mid-northern Oregon along the I-5 so that we don't get too far off course.

This might, in the end, be a crazy idea, but I'm exploring everything that comes to mind to see if I can make this work safely.

Thank you!

I hope the travel goes well!
My first thought was that I would bring along my metal dog fence that folds up and a tarps with straps or zip ties. Then when I stop in a safe area, they can be out in this fence with a cover on some nice grass where I was camping out. That way they would be safe from most predators and I would be nearby or even next to them and they wouldn’t wander away in a new area.

Um you can find a bed and breakfast that has other poultry with it, then the person might let you have the ducks in a pen of theirs. But of course you can have them in a cage outside of a hotel and they can just sit in a cage all night... or bring a tent and find a campground to let them have some fresh air but be on a dog fencing area!
